Trauma Informed Care Beyond Title IX
Title IX policies and procedures can have a lasting effect on survivors of interpersonal violence. This training will address the various policies that may be triggering, the impact of mental health, food insecurities, housing insecurities and lack of access to legal services on victims of violence and the importance of a trauma informed response. Participants will gain an increased understanding of the neurobiology of trauma and how individuals may respond differently. Presenters will explore the importance of validating but not investigating disclosures and connecting students with appropriate resources.  The presentation will discuss an advocate's approach to preventing sexual violence and creating trauma informed campuses and communities.
