Full Abstract

The Center for Excellence in Teaching (CET), among its many functions, provides faculty with resources and training centered on the intersection of teaching and technology. CET works with faculty to explore new academic technologies and integrate pedagogically sound technology into the classroom. In November 2017 Faculty Research Space (FRS)was founded at FIT:
The intent of the FRS at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is to support interdisciplinary technology and innovation/exploration, along with research and development in a space designed to foster work across the campus.
Together, the CET and the FRS collaborate to provide faculty with a perspective on new and emergent technologies including, but not limited to, Virtual and Augmented Reality, 3D Modeling, Scanning and Fabrication, AI/Machine Learning, Bio-design, Wearable Electronics.) and the many ways they are being implemented in the teaching space.

This presentation will explore the opportunities and challenges experienced in the past year and the many ways the CET and the FRS have partnered to provide resources that support both the technical and pedagogic context for the faculty. This presentation will explore how this synergy has developed and been implemented.
