Applying the Law to Applied Learning
4:00 PM - 5:00 PMFull Abstract
Applied Learning programs must comply with various legal requirements, both on the State and Federal (and even international) levels. What are the legal issues that must inform how we structure our Applied Learning programs in New York State and beyond?
This presentation will provide a basic legal overview on current case law surrounding internship programs and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), along with other important compliance issues such as insurance, ADA, the New York Human Rights Law, Title IX, Workers’ Compensation, FERPA, structuring of agreements with partners, and other legal issues that have come to the forefront in recent years such as marijuana use.
