From Invisible to Visible--Actively Engaging Asynchronous Students
2:30 PM - 3:00 PMFull Abstract
Online students can often an afterthought since they may not ever step foot on our campuses. However, they are a growing population at many of our institutions and are an important part of our communities.
At the University at Albany, there are currently two fully online undergraduate programs, both in Informatics and both housed in the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity. Our College has adopted the mantra that as much as we can, anything offered and available to face-to-face students should have an equivalent experience for our online students. In the past year our fully online population has doubled as have our deliberate efforts to engage them as members of our community and to support their success.
This session will outline the efforts undertaken by UAlbany's College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity to engage and support our online students from matriculation to graduation.
