Leveraging Advising Technology, Strengthening Partnerships, and Building Capacity Toward a Holistic Culture of Student Success
10:45 AM - 11:15 AMFull Abstract
This presentation focuses on the use of advising technology (Starfish Retention Solutions) to drive advising redesign as well as the system’s role in catalyzing institutional efforts around a holistic view for student success. Presenters will share how they are employing Student Success Plans, particularly those used to guide students in the academic recovery program. Salient aspects of the system's role in clarifying, improving and revitalizing this service will be shared.
Presenters will further outline how the revitalized and streamlined process has served to strengthen campus partnership by facilitating timely, individualized interventions and communication between academic advisors and student support personnel, thus exemplifying the desired characteristics for a more responsive, holistic institutional view for student success.
The session seeks to make clear how the use of evaluative data can support advisor development and accelerate the full adoption of the new advising model to better support all students, with a focus on social mobility/equity targets. In brief, the session highlights practical approaches for leveraging advising technology for transformational institutional change. Finally, we will model the importance of cross departmental collaboration as central to student success.
The presenters, who are part of the Early Alerts Project cohort 2, will share lessons learned, next stage planning, and facilitate a brief discussion around the topic so that attendees can share related insights.
