Non-traditional? No Problem! A Focus on How to Enroll and Retain Non-Traditional Online Students
3:15 PM - 3:45 PMFull Abstract
This session will focus on effective practices to enroll and retain non-traditional online students. As the non-traditional student population grows and a preference for online learning continues to increase in higher education, there is a need to understand how to better serve these students. Through funding awarded by the SUNY Performance Improvement Fund we were able to explore and experiment how to meet these students where they are in life and help them achieve their educational goals. By cultivating an online learning culture and embracing our applied learning mission, we have figured out what helps students be successful from filling out the application to graduation. Session participants will leave with a list of strategies to better enroll and retain online nontraditional students by optimizing processes through a variety of tools such as Slate, Starfish, and Blackboard.
