Leveraging Technology to Extend Advising and Student Support
4:30 PM - 5:00 PMFull Abstract
SUNY Cortland has long prided itself on having a robust and engaged advising and student support model. As we began to envision a new approach to comprehensive campus-wide student success and advising initiatives, the campus brought various teams together to rethink how we support students.
Colleagues from SUNY Cortland’s Advisement and Transition and Student Registration and Record Services will discuss the way the campus has sought to enhance and build a student success ethos and foster a renewed focus on student-centered business processes. Specifically, the presentation will focus on the way technology has been used to lower the barriers to information access, resulting in new cooperative endeavors and campus partnerships.
Specific examples and technology topics will include the development of internal student-success applications and communication tools, operational data, student success analytics, planning and scheduling technologies, and integrating with existing features and resources in the student information system. We will discuss the use of several prevailing systems and platforms including Degree Works, PowerApps, Office 365, College Scheduler and Starfish.
