Introduction to Blackboard Workshop (Part 1 & Part 2)

Description: The Introduction to Blackboard Workshop is an entry-level primer to using the Blackboard (Bb) Learning Management System for instructors teaching fully online or blended courses, as well as those who wish to use Blackboard to supplement a traditional face-to-face offering with an online component. This training provides an overview of the Bb interface and focuses on frequently used Bb functions such as adding content, communicating within a course, and assessing student learning. Best practices and online pedagogy will be stressed with an emphasis on the accessibility of digital content.

The Introduction to Blackboard Workshop is offered in two Parts, a certificate of completion is provided to individuals who complete Parts 1 & 2 for a total of 5 hours of training.

Upon completion of this workshop, faculty members will be able to:

  • Design and develop an online, blended, or web-supplemented course with sound instructional design and pedagogical principles.
  • Teach an online, blended, or web-supplemented course in a manner consistent with best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Utilize the various functions and tools of Blackboard to design, teach, and manage an instructionally sound online, blended, or web-supplemented course.
