FACT2 AI Symposium
May 21, 2024 – University at Buffalo
On November 30, 2022, OpenAI opened ChatGPT to the public, beginning a series of rapid releases and evolution of new AI (artificial intelligence) platforms. The development and widespread adoption of AI tools has created many opportunities and challenges for educational institutions. In the summer of 2023, the Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching and Technology (FACT2) formed a task group to explore the impact of generative AI on education. The 2024 FACT2 AI Symposium has been organized by this task group to help faculty, instructional designers and technologists, student support professional staff, and administrators work to transform our educational practices so that we can better prepare students for a world in which AI tools are ubiquitous. This symposium will take place at the University of Buffalo on May 21, 2024. All sessions will be available both in person at the University of Buffalo and remotely over Zoom.
Throughout the day, there will be two concurrent sessions for attendees to choose from. The registration fee of $30 for in-person attendance covers the cost of a continental breakfast and a box lunch. Remote attendance is available at no charge. Anyone attending in person who is not also attending the SUNY Conference on Instruction and Technology (CIT) may attend the CIT welcome reception for an additional fee of $40. (The reception is included as part of the registration package for those attending CIT.) Resources shared throughout the conference will be made available through FACT2’s AI task group website.
