What is Innovation Worth? Creating a Valuable Culture of Change

Presentation Description

An Education Technology Specialist and an Instructional Designer find themselves practicing their
marketing and sales skills as they work to sell the idea of innovation to faculty, stressing the payoffs and
benefits to investing in and implementing various Sakai features and tools. We will discuss how we
define innovation and establish the culture of investment required to facilitate teaching and learning
success. We realized we needed to both draw our faculty in, encourage them to overcome digital fears,
and put in the work to achieve various results. We are redefining what we already have, know and do
while investing the time, skills, and energy required to gain perspective, growth, quality, and more.

Through our discussions we plan to engage the audience to contribute suggestions and perspectives on how they market their faculty or how faculty work best with support specialists, how they get them to invest in their sessions and change their course designs.

Participants will identify common barriers to academic innovation, constructively assess and criticize various approaches and work to generate possible solutions and pathways .
