Breaking the Barrier Between Pedagogy and Technology: Focusing Faculty on Purpose not Tools
9:40 AM - 10:15 AMPresentation Description
At the end of the presentation participants will be able to:
Map existing and new technologies to pedagogical goals and campus initiatives based on a case study of this in action from SUNY Oneonta.
Connect technology tools from your campus to best practices in teaching and learning
The Teaching, Learning and Technology Center (TLTC) at SUNY Oneonta hosts bootcamps three times a year. We create a theme for each of these bootcamps focusing on a specific best practice in teaching and learning. Active learning was the theme for the Winter Bootcamp in January 2019. We invited faculty from across campus that were using a variety of techniques to support active learning that included innovative uses of technology and some low technology examples. We included faculty from multiple initiatives across campus included OER, Applied Learning, and COIL. We purposefully invite faculty using tools in innovative ways to showcase examples of applications in the classroom and to connect other interest faculty. Participants will be given time to examine the layout of the bootcamp to consider the goals on their campus and how the available tools on their campus fit into these goals.
