Series Presenters

Zia Hassan

Zia Hassan is a Microsoft Learning Consultant and College Professor. He does presentations and trainings on Microsoft EDU tools for teachers, administrators, and students. Zia is a former classroom teacher, holds and MAT, published the book Inventing the Modern Classroom in 2020.

Dr. Melissa Hortman

Melissa Hortman is an Education Industry Executive with Microsoft who has over a decade in innovation work in Higher Education. Most recently, Melissa was at the Medical University of South Carolina as the Director of Instructional Technology as well as an Associate Professor. There she led innovative teaching and scholarship through new academic program development, curriculum design, and enterprise-wide faculty development efforts.

Kurt Buehlmaier

Kurt Buehlmaier is a Sr. Modern Work Specialist at Microsoft focused on customer success by leveraging technology that facilitates productivity, process improvement, and collaboration. Previously, he had his own business as a professional speaker and personal coach. For the first 9 years of his career he was a classroom teacher.

Andres Avendano

Andres Avendano is a Sr. Teams Technical Specialist who has been focused on various technologies inside of Microsoft. He comes from a communications and voice background with his previous experience in the Marine Corps having to deploy radios, satellites, PBX systems, and other means of communications. Andres is focused on the education industry and has helped various customers taken advantage of cloud to deploy enterprise level phone systems and meeting rooms.
