An Recorded OnAir Virtual Event

The IT departments on SUNY campuses prioritize and manage their project budgets and priorities in a variety of ways. One thing is common though – there are always more projects than time or resources allow! The objective of this PM Regional Forum is to help you understand what Project Steering (Governance) Boards are and identify the role of the Steering Board in helping your campus IT projects be more strategic and more successful.

The forum recordings cover:

  • What is a Project Steering/Governance Board?
  • What are they supposed to do?
  • What are they NOT supposed to do?
  • Why have a Project Steering Board?
  • Communicating with the Project Steering Board – what to tell them, how to tell them and when to tell them
  • How boards support the strategic mission of the campus
  • How boards support the project
  • Models of boards that SUNY campuses could use

The afternoon breakout sessions for this event were not recorded but the session where some of the breakout rooms gave a recap of what happened in their breakout room was recorded. If you would like the instructions and templates that were given out to the breakout room participants during the event for you or your department’s reference, please contact Kris Lynch via the contact information below.
