Preparing for your virtual presentation
Once your presentation has been accepted, and you have registered for the event in which you will be presenting, it is encouraged for presenters to have a copy of their PowerPoint slides saved in PDF format in case of technical difficulties.
- Please note: The event coordinator will send directions on how to properly submit your PowerPoint slides.
When should you expect the login details to the OnAir Portal?
Approximately 2 weeks before the Conference/Event starts, you will receive login details to the portal, and an invitation to test the portal functionality with a member of the CPD Staff.
- We highly encourage all OnAir presenters to attend the Presenter Training offered by the CPD, as this ensures and informs our team of any special requests, adjustments, or information we need to know beforehand. It also makes you, as a presenter, more comfortable for the "big day" as you've experienced and have had the opportunity to see and work with OnAir before your presentation.
Now that you have the login credentials to the OnAir Portal. What should you expect next?
- As a presenter, you will have access to your session 10-15 minutes before the session starts for the attendees to meet with technical support to check your presentation can be shared and seen accordingly. Your session Icon will have a red color if you have this access.
- It is recommended to use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge as a web browser. Browsers such as: Safari, Internet Explorer and Firefox are not supported by OnAir, making it more likely for technical errors to occur during your presentation.
- Use a stable network. Wired network is always best.
- Check your audio and video outlets. Wired headphones with a microphone are preferred for an optimal sound.
- Using two screens is recommended, this way you will be able to manage your presentation activity on one screen, and to keep an eye on the virtual portal with the session time and control room on the other screen.
- Follow the time allocation strictly, as there are often multiple sessions before and after your presentation, keeping track of your time is essential in ensuring you don't get cut off by the recording, and also allow presenters after you to log in early to check their presentations.
- You can prepare a live poll if you want, and reset the poll before a new group enters.
- Technical help will be available in the session room in case you need it. You can also chat with a technical support person through the Control Room Chat in the OnAir Portal if you have any problems or questions during the session.
